Wilfred Houle

LEOMINSTER -- Wilfred R. “Cy” Houle, 80, of 238 Ridgewood Drive, died Sunday, April 25, in Oklahoma, Okla., after being stricken ill.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Leominster, the son of William and Cecile (LaFrance) Houle, and was a lifelong resident.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran during World War II serving in the Mediterranean -Middle East war zone.

Mr. Houle had worked in Research & Development at the former Foster Grant Co. in Leominster before retiring several years ago.


Mr. Houle is survived by his wife of 14 years, Madeline R. (Bilodeau) Houle; four daughters, Judith Mariano of Derry, N.H., Margaret “Peggy” Houle of Leominster, Carol Allain of Phillipston, and Mary Liljengren of Greenville, N.H.; a son, Martin McDonough of Lusby, Md.; seven grandchildren, Frank Mariano of Derry, N.H., Suzanne Houle and Nicholas Allain, both of Leominster, Heather Austin of Fitchburg, David J. Liljengren of Greenville, N.H., Katie McDonough and Bobby McDonough, both of Lusby, Md.; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorette Johnson of Fitchburg and Doris Robinson of East Hampstead, N.H.; an aunt, Mary Jane Boisvert of Leominster; several nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters, Marie Osborn and Sharon Newcombe, both of Leominster; two stepsons, Robert Tambeau of Worcester and Joseph Paquin of Leominster; and seven step-grandchildren. He had two brothers, Roland Houle and Raymond Houle, who predeceased him.


HOULE -- On April 25, Wilfred R. “Cy” Houle, 80, of Leominster. The funeral service will be held Saturday from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home 106 West St., Leominster with a Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
