Leo Paul Rouleau, 82, of Centennial Avenue, Meriden, husband of Edith Kolin Schott Rouleau, died Saturday, (December 16, 2000) in Hartford. He was born in Fitchburg, MA, July 19, 1918, son of the late Euclid and Margarette St. Cyr Rouleau. He was a retired machinist from Standard Knapp Co. of Portland. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the American Legion. He was the father of Diane R. Rutherford of Coventry, and Daniel Rouleau of California; brother of Yvonne Durkin of Newington and the late Pauline DuBois; grandfather of John ``Jay'' Curtis Roberts, II of Manchester, and Mark Andrew Montenieri of Tallahassee, FL; great grandfather of Zachary Montenieri and Amanda Montenieri, both of New Britain, and John ``Curt'' Curtis Roberts, III of Manchester; step-father of Katherine S. Olson and Alan Schott, both of Meriden, David Schott of Albuquerque, NM, and the late Robert Schott. Funeral services were private.

MERIDEN - Leo Paul Rouleau, 82, husband of Edith Kolin Schott Rouleau, of 151 Centennial Avenue, Meriden, died Dec. 16, 2000, in Hartford.

He was born in Fitchburg, Mass., July 19, 1918, son of the late Eculid and Margarette St.Cry Rouleau. He was a retired machinist from Standard Knapp Co. of Portland. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was the father of Diane R. Gerald (Jerry) Rouleau, a retired mill worker, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Sandpoint. He was 73.

He was born Jan. 29, 1927, to Edward and Lilly Radiker Rouleau in Park Falls, Wis. Jerry grew up in Loretta, Wis.

In 1944, he went into the U.S. Navy and in 1952, he joined the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War. At a celebration in Sandpoint on Veterans Day this year, he received a medal for his participation in the war.

Jerry and Mary Lou Binkley were married Dec. 13, 1952, in Angola, Ind. After he left the military, they lived in Indiana until 1960, when they moved to Pierce. He worked for Potlatch Forest Inc., now Potlatch Corp. They moved to Headquarters in 1963 and to Weippe in 1971. He retired from Potlatch in 1982. His wife died Sept. 28, 1988, in a motor vehicle accident. He moved to Sandpoint to be near a son in 1989.

Jerry was an active member of the senior citizens in Sandpoint and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Rouleau Jr. of Idaho Falls, Greg Rouleau of Bakersfield, Calif., and Thomas Rouleau of Sandpoint; three sisters, Catherine Kiely and Clarice Kinast, both of Lewiston, and Eleanor Granger of Lady Smith, Wis.; a brother, Robert Rouleau of Cockeysville, Md.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, George Rouleau; brothers, Patrick Rouleau, Floyd Rouleau and Gene Rouleau; and sisters, Emma Benda, Myrtle Iverson, Agnes Knowles and Ruth Crawford.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mountain View Funeral Chapel in Lewiston. The Rev. Marion Renfro of Lewiston will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino.

Albert A. Rouleau, 94, formerly of Lee Center,died Thursday at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility.

Born in Lowell, Mass., he attended school in Fitchburg, Mass. He retired in 1967 after 20 years with Griffiss Air Force Base. He was also a truck driver for several local companies. He was a member of Lee Center Senior Citizens.

His wife of 52 years, the former Ethel Bugbee, died in 1980.

Survivors: Three daughters, Geraldine Boone of Rome, Gladys Clement of Mattydale and Phyllis Griffin of Chittenango; a son, Alfred P. of Crawfordville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn A. Rouleau, 78, of Pinellas Park, Fla., a former Buffalo-area resident and a retired staff member of the Silver Creek schools, died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2000) in St. Petersburg (Fla.) General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Evelyn Beck in South Buffalo, she was a graduate of South Park High School. She and Leo Paul Rouleau were married in 1941.

She worked for many years in the Silver Creek Central Schools as a custodian in Babcock Street School. She also was the union representative for the school.

She and her husband moved to Hanford Bay in 1961 and retired to Pinellas Park in 1981. They maintained a summer residence at Snyder Beach in Irving.

She enjoyed bowling and golf and was a member of several leagues in Buffalo, Angola, Irving, Silver Creek, Forestville and Dunkirk. She also was an avid pinochle and euchre player.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Dianne E. Johnson of Derby and Sharon M. Stoklosa of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass was offered in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pinellas Park. A memorial service will be scheduled in the Buffalo area.

Dorothy M. (Carter) Rouleau, 71, of 82 Harris Road, Nashua, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Mrs. Rouleau was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Nashua, daughter of the late Leonard and Marie (Kelley) Carter. She was a lifelong Nashua resident.

She was the widow of Joseph "Red" Rouleau, who died March 10, 1997.

Mrs. Rouleau worked at the Doehla Greeting Card Co. for more than 20 years. She retired after the closing of the card shop.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sharon (Page) Rouleau and Scot and Janice (Demers) Rouleau, all of Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie (Tufts) and David Palmer of Wilton; a sister, Madeline Fowler of Nashua; four grandchildren, Laura and Julie Palmer, Angela Fisher and Jason Rouleau; and several nieces and nephews.

Motorcycle accidents in Bartlett and Manchester killed two men late Saturday, but the city accident wasn't discovered until yesterday morning.

The Manchester crash killed John H. Smith, 32, of 490 North West Road, Canterbury, police said. The crash occurred on Upland Street east of the Goffstown town line.

The fatality occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday, but was discovered yesterday morning when the victim's friend investigated his failure to return, Manchester Police Officer Guy Tremblay said in a statement.

In the Intervale section of Bartlett, Police Officer Karl Meyers came upon the motorcycle fatality on Route 16 at 10:41 p.m. Saturday. The crash killed a local man, Richard G. Rouleau, 42, of Intervale.

Speed was not an apparent factor, but Rouleau's blood will be tested for alcohol or drug content, Meyers said.

Meyers said the bike was headed south on Route 16 when it left the road, but he has not yet determined the time of the crash. Meyers asked for anyone who saw the crash to please call the Bartlett Police Department at 603-356-5868.

Members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department and Jackson Police Department assisted at the scene of the accident.

Rouleau's death was caused by blunt head trauma, police said. He was not wearing a helmet.

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Fernand J. Rouleau, 90, of 107 Sterling St., a longtime setup technician, died Friday in New Britain General Hospital after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Aurore (Perusse) Rouleau; a son; four daughters, including Jeannette Krans of the Fiskdale section of Sturbridge, Mass.; a brother; four sisters; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Rock Forest, Quebec, Canada, and lived here more than 60 years.

Mrs. Rouleau was a setup technician at Fafnir Bearing Co. for many years before he retired.

He was long active in church affairs.

Joseph Fernand Rouleau of New Britain died Friday at New Britain General Hospital. He was 90.

Rouleau was born in St. Claire, Quebec, Canada and lived in New Britain for the past 70 years. He was employed by Fafnir Bearing Co., for 34 years before he retired. He was a parishoner of St. Jerome Church, belonged to La Rencontre, and served as financial secretary for St. Jean Baptiste Society and treasurer for L'Union St. Jean Baptiste.

He is survived by his wife, Aurore Perusse Rouleau; four daughters, Rita Brochu of New Britain; Cecile Beauchemin of Cromwell; Irene Misiorski of Dale City, Va., and Jeanette Krans of Fiskdale, Mass.; one son, Jerry Rouleau of Hanover, N.H.; four sisters, Marie Anne Carriere of Berlin; Rose Charest of New Britain and Aldea Mills and Laura Longpre, both of Fleurimont, Canada; one brother, Emile Rouleau of Thetford Mines, Canada; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great- grandchildren.

She was born in Canada. She lived in New Britain most of her life and was a seamstress and salesperson at the former Levy's Dress Shop in New Britain for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Mrs. Rouleau is survived by two sons, Roland Rouleau of East Greenwich, R.I., and Robert Rouleau of Bolton; a sister, Cecile Fortin of New Britain; four grandchilden; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, George E. Rouleau, died previously.

George E. Rouleau of 20 Whiting St., New Britain, husband of Rose Demers Rouleau, died Saturday at an area convalescent home. He was 87.

Mr. Rouleau was born in St. Claire, Quebec, Canada, and lived in New Britain since 1926. He worked for Fafnir Bearing Co. for 39 years before he retired in 1975. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Jean Baptiste Societe and the Knights of Columbus.

Mrs. Rouleau was an assembler at Foster Grant in Leominster for 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and enjoyed playing bingo and camping.

The funeral will be held Saturday from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 59 Vernon St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m tomorrow at the funeral home.
