We have the mariage of Honoré HOULE et Félicité MIRON on January 6 1852 at Cooperville, New York. He is the son of Jean-Baptiste HOULE & Angélique CHENADE.
How can we translate CHENADE in french. This name does not exist?

In Reply to: Batise/Jean-Baptiste Houl mrd. Marie Rabideau by Nancy of 871
Nancy,
Jean-Baptiste Houle & Marie Robidoux are also my g-g-grandparents. Jean-Baptiste married Marie on October 25, 1849 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cooperville, Clinton Co. NY. Marie was the widow of Francois-Xavier Jodoin.
His parents were Jean-Baptiste Houle & Angelique (or Judith)? Chenade(?). Her parents were Antoine Robidoux & Marie Pinsonneau.
In the 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880 censuses they are found in Mooers Forks, Clinton Co. NY. Records are difficult to decipher probably due to the difficulty for American census takers to accurately understand the French-Canadian names. “Houle” is spelled many different ways in various records.
Some time between 1880 and 1888, the family moved to Elmwood Township, Tuscola County, Michigan near the village of Gagetown. I think Jean-Baptiste died October 14, 1888. Marie died June 27, 1895 in Tuscola County MI.
By the time they are in Michigan, the family name stabilized with the anglicized spelling of “Hool.” You may email me directly at pjharrington@kconline.com if you need more details.

Patrick Harrington

I may have finally found baptisms for some of these kids from Quebec Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 :
Joseph Houlle, b. 17 Apr 1834 St-Édouard (Napierville County), Quebec, son of Jean-Baptiste & Judith Choreder? -godparents- Joseph Bissonet & Marguerite Robert
Aurelie Houlle, b. 29 Feb 1836 St-Édouard (Napierville County), Quebec, daughter of Jean & Angelique Chenaut? -godparents- Ignace Houlle & Marie Anne ?
Amable Houlle, b. 23 Feb 1838 St-Édouard (Napierville County), Quebec, son of Jean & Judith Chenalde? -godparents- Amable Gagne & Marguerite Boyer
Napoleon Houlle, b. 21 Apr 1841 St-Édouard (Napierville County), Quebec, son of Jean & Judith Chenider -godparents- Barthlemi Pinel & Charlotte & Charlotte Marstelle -- This is the most legible parish record so far, so I'm more confident that Judith's last name is Chenider.
Here is a possible marriage for you:
Jean-Baptiste Houle (Jean & Marie Dissonnet?)
m. 25 Nov 1822 St-Philippe (Laprairie County), Quebec
Judith Schneider (Jean-Baptiste & Marguerite Riel)
I found more children for them in St-Philippe:
Henri Houl, b. 22 Dec 1828 St-Philippe (Laprairie County), Quebec, son of Jean & Judith Schneider. -godparents- Henri Schneider & Marie Bizaillon. This could be your Henry.
This is probably the next marriage in the line:
Jean-Baptiste Houle, age 25 (Joseph & Angelique Bauche)
m. 11 Sep 1797 St-Philippe (Laprairie County), Quebec
Marie Louise Bisonnette, age 20 (Joseph & Charlotte Chaquete)
They had a son, Jean-Baptiste Houle, b. 7 Dec 1798 St-Philippe (Laprairie County), Quebec, son of Jean-Baptiste & Marie Louise Bisonnet -godparents- Joseph Bissonnet & Charlotte Choquet, his wife. Often the grandparents were the godparents of the first born child.
