"Thomas Stone, born 1724 and died 1748, married Mary Butler, and they h ad a son named John Stone, who married a Miss Corder, who was a daught er of John Corder.

That John Stone became the first of the family to move to Northa Caroli na and to Surry County.

One of their sons was Enoch Stone Sr., who married Nancy Anthony in Caswe ll County, North Carolina, in 1786. He also settled near Pilot Mountain, a nd there his sons Enoch and William Stone both married into the Gordon fam ily, and a daughter named Elizabeth married into the Denny family. Bo th of the sons and the daughter have literally hosts of descendants. Eno ch Stone Jr., born Nov 8 1791, and died Oct 11, 1874, married Elizabeth Go rdon on Oct. 21, 1819, and they became the parents of Francis Rutherford S tone (b. Mar 6, 1828, d. Mar 30 1918, m. Sarah Caroline Poindexter, h ad 13 children.)
